Teona Zhizhiashvili – Associate
Teona joined the VBAT team in 2014 as an associate. She specializes in contract law, labor law, tax law, administrative law and arbitration.
In VBAT, Teona’s work entails legal drafting and dispute resolution strategies. Teona has been engaged in the representation and legal support of the clients: TMD Limited; UMG Limited; AMTS (Advanced Medical Technologies and services).
Teona graduated from Tbilisi State University in 2013 with Bachelor’s degree with honours. In 2015 Teona earned her Master’s degree with honours in civil law specialization from the same University. Her Master thesis is regarding the problem of validity of arbitration agreement on the unilateral right to court. In 2016 Teona pursued her studies in Germany and graduated from Bucerius Law School, Master of Law and Business Program (LLM/MLB). She has been awarded scholarships for her studies by Bucerius Law School and International Education Center. Her Master’s thesis analyses the dilemma of balancing the interests of creditors and entrepreneur debtors while discharging residual debts after an insolvency.
During her studies Teona was working in one of the leading German law firms - Hengeler Mueller, in Frankfurt office.
Prior to joining VBAT, Teona was the lawyer of Commission of Ethics at Georgian Bar Association, dealing with disciplinary cases of advocates.
Teona is a lecturer at Ilia State University.
Teona was an assistant of the author of Commentary on Georgian Civil Code, (Articles 115-120).
Teona was a trainer of the project - Support of Civil and Legal Education organized by GIZ and Georgian Young Lawyers' Association's Foundation for the Support of Legal Education.
Teona has been admitted to the Georgian Bar Association with the specialization in civil law since 2015.
In addition to her native Georgian, Teona is fluent in English and Russian languages.
